CRAFTING & OFFICIATING FUNERALS, CELEBRATIONS OF LIFE & MEMORIAL SERVICES

Serving Asheville, NC & Surrounding Areas

End-of-Life ceremonies, when done well, not only honor the memory of your loved one, they help you move through your grief, heal from your loss and say goodbye.  My job as your ceremony specialist in the Asheville, NC area is to create with you, and for you, a fully customized ceremony that becomes a loving remembrance of the departed—one that tells the story of their life and legacy and touches the hearts of all who attend.

My role is to ensure that your ceremony is an authentic portrait of the person we're celebrating, that it feels true for you and includes the ceremonial elements you want. These elements might include meaningful words spoken by me, shared memories and stories from others, ceremonial rituals, music, poetry or other readings. Together we'll create a unique and loving portrait of your loved one.

Whether you want a spiritual, religious or secular theme, a solemn tone or elements of humor, or both—my expertise is crafting ceremonies that become meaningful and memorable celebrations of life. I approach my role as a sacred duty, and it will be my honor to work with you

How We’ll Create an End-of-Life Ceremony Together

Getting Started

It starts by inquiring about your date. See the button at the bottom of this page. During our initial communication—which can occur through text, email or live conversation—you’ll give me an idea of what you’re looking for.

No Obligation Consultation

I'll then offer you a no-obligation consultation, where we’ll further discuss your vision for your ceremony, how you'd like to structure it, and some of my ideas for capturing the essence of your loved one to create a highly personalized ceremony. During that conversation, which we can do in-person at the location of your choosing or through video chat (Zoom, FaceTime, Skype), you will get a good sense if I am the right officiant for you.

Building your Ceremony

We'll discuss in detail the life of the person we're honoring, what they meant to you and others, what made them unique, what they stood for and their values, how they made a difference, and their work, hobbies and interests.

Based on our conversations, I will write a eulogy and craft the service from beginning to end. Depending on your preferences, the service can include:

  • Personal anecdotes from you and other loved ones.

  • Readings, rituals and music.

  • Designated speakers and, if you want,  an "open mic" portion of the service where those who wish can share their stories and memories.

If you're unsure about any of these elements, I'll offer suggestions, and you'll let me know your preferences. Along the way, I'll honor your wishes as we work together to commemorate a life. You'll have an opportunity to edit the ceremony. The final approval of the ceremony I officiate is in your hands!

Day of the Service

I will arrive early to ensure everything is set up for the service. I will reach out to your guests and alert everyone when the moment to begin has arrived. The ceremony itself, because we took the time to create a unique and loving portrait, gives you, your family and friends of the departed the opportunity to share an experience that is sacred, meaningful and healing.

A Word about Fees

My fee for a customized ceremony varies depending on the complexity of your ceremony and the preparation required. Once you make the decision to work with me, I will be available to you throughout the entire process, and will work to ensure you are totally satisfied. Contact me for a no-obligation consultation to discuss your needs and receive a quote.
